FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

The world of video production is creative, dynamic and exciting. It can be a bit daunting for those new on the scene and seasoned professionals.

Our mission is to educate our partners throughout the process while making productions safe and enjoyable spaces for our crew, clients and talent. We truly believe production should be fun, and we go to great lengths to ensure that everyone who is a part of our productions has an awesome experience. Here is a small sample of questions we frequently receive from new clients.

Don't see your question here? Just send us a quick note through the form above and we'll get back to you right away!

What industries do you typically serve?

We work with a diverse range of industries. That said, we find that we are particularly well-suited to working with companies in manufacturing, higher-education, high-tech products & services, medical-technology & research, as well as software development companies.

We also have a strong interest in partnering with organizations whose efforts strive to make positive impact and implement diversity, equity, and inclusion practices as core values.

Do You Have a studio? Yes, we have a bright and spacious 1800 sq. ft. production studio in the Allston area of Boston, with easily accessible guest parking for your team.
How much time does it take to plan a production? Depending on your project's scope and timeline, we will work to ensure the pre-production (creative and logistics planning) process is completed in time for your designated shoot date. Generally speaking, the process timeframe depends but can range from 3 weeks to a few months depending on the project needs.
What regions do you serve?

We primarily serve Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Connecticut and Rhode Island. However, we are happy to travel for productions just about anywhere on the planet.

As we always say: "Have camera, will travel!"

What are your payment terms?

Our standard process is we request 50% of the agreed-upon project estimate in order to begin production, with the remainder due at various milestones tied to deliverables and mutually agreed-upon dates.

That said, every project, client (and their associated Accounts Payable department) is unique, and we're committed to finding a solution that works best for you.

What are your COVID 19 protocols?

Our employees operating practice in the studio is to wear K95 masks throughout the day. We also have hand sanitizer available and do a thorough cleaning sweep of our space before and after shoots.

We encourage off-camera visitors to wear masks while filming occurs but it is not required.

Can I e-mail you instead of using the form?

Absolutely! E-mail us at newproductions@thevideogarage.com

Can You Help Non-Actors Perform better on camera? Our producers will be able to direct and coach non-actors during filming. We also use other tools like teleprompters to help ease the stress of first time participants as well as pre-interview phone calls to walk each interviewee through our process so they know what to expect.
What Kind of Cameras & Lenses do you use?

We’re equipped with all kinds of high quality cameras, and depending on your project needs, we’ll assess which cameras are best suited for your shoot. That said, we use the best professional cinema cameras available and suited for corporate production. This includes the range of Canon Cinema EOS cameras, including the C70/200/300, as well as Red Digital Cinema Cameras including the Helium 8K, Dragon-X, and Komodo.
